# Improve Email Content

> Embed a one-click survey in your newsletter and find out whether people actually wanted what you sent.

Open rates tell you whether the subject line worked. They tell you nothing about whether the content was worth opening. A one-question survey embedded in the email itself does.

## Purpose

The reader answers inside the email, without a click-through, so the response rate is far higher than a linked survey — and the answer arrives while they still remember what they read.

## 1. Start from the template

Open **Surveys**, click **New Survey** and choose **Choose a template**. Search for **Improve Newsletter Content**, then click the card to create the survey.

Keep it to one question. The click from the email lands the reader on the survey page, and every question after the first is one more thing standing between them and a submitted answer.

## 2. Embed it in the email

Open the survey's **Distribute** dialog and choose **Email embed**.

**Email Preview** shows how the survey will render in an inbox. **Embed Code** gives you the HTML to paste into your email tool.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Email clients strip most JavaScript and much CSS. The embed is deliberately plain HTML for that reason —
> it will not match your survey's styling theme, and it is not meant to.

Every answer is a normal response: it lands in the survey's **Responses** tab and counts toward its summary like any other.

## 3. Read the results

Open the survey's **Summary** tab. With one question and a large send, the useful signal is usually the distribution rather than any individual answer — see [reading survey results](https://formbricks.com/docs/surveys/analysis/reading-results.md).

> [!TIP]
>
> Sending the same survey with every issue makes the number comparable over time. Use [Tags](https://formbricks.com/docs/surveys/general-features/tags.md)
> or a [hidden field](https://formbricks.com/docs/surveys/general-features/hidden-fields.md) carrying the issue number to keep them apart.
